A garage door that will not open can point to anything from a control issue to a failed spring or a binding door.

Look at the Symptoms

If the opener makes noise but the door barely lifts, a spring or mechanical problem may be involved. If nothing responds, the opener controls or power may deserve attention. If the door is crooked or jammed, stop operating it.
